Yesterday the Tigers beat the Phillies 6-2, as JD Durbin did what JD Durbin does. Greg Golson picked up another hit in his only AB, and Brad Harman went 1/3 with an RBI. Jason Jaramillo’s struggles at the plate continued. You have to wonder if he’s pressing a bit, and if he knew he had a shot to make the club as the backup in ST over Coste, whom we know the org doesn’t trust. Jason Donald went 0/1 and committed his 2nd error of the spring. JA Happ pitched 2 innings, allowing 1 run on 3 hits, and Lincoln Holdzkom went an inning, allowing 1 run on 1 hit while striking out 1 and walking 1.
I missed this article from a few days ago talking about Greg Golson. He says something of interest, when asked about trying to help the Phillies this season at some point;
Golson would love to help the Phillies at some point, but he is focused on the present.
“I got in trouble a couple years ago trying to get somewhere else when I was in Lakewood,” he said. “For two months, I thought I was in Clearwater, and I was in Lakewood.”
Either he’s bad with geography, or he realizes its important to remain focused at the level you’re at and let promotions and demotions sort themselves out.
I see that C. Durbin and Eaton got smacked around today. Eaton’s worse than last year and that’s hard to do. Carrasco’s got better stuff than her does. I don’t want the Phillies to bring Carrasco north because they can’t find a 3rd, 4th or 5th starter. Maybe Holdzcom and some of the other Rule 5 guys can fill some slots. I hope they don’t do for these guys like they did for Germano last year. Phils released him and he won a few games for the team that picked him up. Another 5-15 April will be harder to overcome this year.

J, wasn’t the context of the Golson comment that he didn’t realize there was a Low-A, he thought it was just A?

The Golson comment is interesting. It tells you that either the guy is just clueless or he is wise beyond his years. I am going for (and hoping for) the latter.

OK – give the kid a break. To me there is no question what he is saying which is he was “looking beyond today”. I like hearing him say this – I think kids with tons of natural talent tends to have the “I should be in the show” issue. That said, the one thing they tend to say about Golson is that he’s a good kid and works hard. Of course I know this is anti-Golson central, so let the bashing continue 🙂 (yes – that was a joke)

I guess I need to make a new post.

Quote me, Blackley will be in the starting rotation over Eaton.

I saw another quote about this.
” When I came out of highschool I didn’t know there was a low A , I only though there was A ball.
