For those of you who aren’t already familiar with me from my work last year, my name is Jeff, and I provide the weekly updates on the happenings within the Threshers organiztion for James here at Phuture Phillies. I also run a Threshers site with daily game recaps and player profiles along with player of the game awards, and end-of-the-season awards. Check out the site here. I’ve talked with a few of the players from last year’s FSL Champion Threshers team and set up some upcoming interviews with Andrew Carpenter, Jason Donald, and Lou Marson. Like most of you I am a fan of the game and not a professional journalist, so I’d like to get your input on these upcoming talks to make sure that what I ask and write about are of the most interest to those of you who frequent this site. I want to throw out this opportunity to you all to allow me to be the surrogate for the questions that you would ask if you had the opportunity to talk with these players.
You can use the comments section here or drop me an email and get your input into the upcoming articles.
I hope to have the interviews up within the next week, so let me know soon if you’d like some input.
This is excellent, thanks for working on this! I’ll try and send a few questions via email later today.

I’d like to know if Carpenter is still allowed to throw his splitter, as most guys have it taken away from them when they come into the system.

For Jason Donald, does he think he can play 3B? Has management spoken with him about this possibility?

OK, here are a few.
For Marson
Is he at the stage where he’s calling the game, or are the pitches coming from the bench like in lower levels in the minors.
For Carpenter
Has the organization indicated to him whether his future will come in the bullpen with an accelerated time table, or will he remain a starter?
For Donald
What was the biggest difference in the jump from Low A to High A?
You can probably word these a little better, just general thoughts.

Also Jeff, I was gonna say. You won’t get many questions submitted, just a bunch of people after the interviews are posted saying “why didn’t you ask so and so this?”….thats kind of how people operate.

For Marson: What does he feel his greatest asset is both in the field and defensively
For Carpenter: Are there any new pitches he’s working on? the fish alluded to this earlier, but I’m curious if he’s trying to refine his repertoire.
For Donald (and this might be beating a dead horse): Does he feel like he could handle third base or the outfield defensively? These are two weak links in the Phils minor-league chain, and with his (possibly) potent bat, I’d love to see him play for our big-league club.
Also, Jeff, have you looked into the possibility of interviewing Harman? He’d be awesome to talk to.

That Marson question should say at the plate and defensively. My bad.

I am going to try to talk to Brad Harman as well. At this point I haven’t been able to talk to him to confirm anything. Obviously with him being at Clearwater last year I know him fairly well, or at least he knows of me.

Any chance you can talk to Cardenas. It would be interesting to know if he thinks he could play 3B and if the Phillies have tried him there.
For Threshers players from last season:
Is Brauer healthy?
How does Savage expect to be used this season? Closer for Reading?

Lauber had a piece yesterday where Donald will stay at shortstop and Brad Harman will play some 3B this year in Reading.
Quote: Brad Harman shifted to third base after two infielders were injured during the Phillies’ instructional league season in October, and Bill Dancy said he proved he could handle the switch. It is likely that Harman will play some third base this season for Class AA Reading.”

So far this Spring I have only seen Harman at second with no work at third. In pracitice and in games he has always been at 2nd. Not to say something else might be up the team’s sleeve. I just haven’t seen it.

I’ve been sick as a dog since saying I would post these interviews soon. I have a couple of things out via emai to get some answers, but have not been able to do anything in person yet.
I will have at least one interview up this week, and hope to have a few up before March ends. Still plenty of ST to go an hopefully this sickness will break soon.
