Phils Winter Caravan to Visit Lakewood

Hi Folks:

For those that may be interested, the Phils’ Winter Caravan will be making its annual stop in Lakewood on January 18th. The Blue Claws just announced that Manager Charlie Manuel has been added to the guests that include Coste & Kendrick, as well as returning Phils’ broadcaster Tom McCarthy and Minor League Director Steve Noworyta. Below is the press release from Lakewood.

I have been to this event few times and it is a nice way to warm the bones in the middle of January thinking about the boys o f summer. Unfortunately, the date conflicts with our first Little League registration so I won’t be able to make it this year.

One more note I would like to share with you. I just received a set of very special CDs produced by Cubs broadcaster Pat Hughes featuring some of the most famous baseball broadcasters, including Harry Kalas. The set is awesome … he is selling goosebumps! Hearing all the famous calls again is a real treat for any fan. I can’t wait to play the final inning of 2007 for all my Mets friends..hehe. 1. Someone should ask Steve Noworyta if he’s aware of this site and if he could maybe stop by sometime to chat. That would be a great q and a.

  2. I didn’t mean to be critical. It isn’t easy coming up with good baseball content on January 10 – I don’t know how you do it. It’s the dark part of the year, if you know what I mean, and there’s only so far one can go with reports from winter ball.

  3. Guys I was at this event and have been meaning to post for a while. Great event to get the baseball juices flowing during the winter. There were a couple hundred people there and I thought there would be more. Anyway, the most interesting thing to come out of the night IMO was Steve Noworyta saying that the young kid who played SS last year at Williamsport-his name is escaping me and I don’t have time to find it-could play SS in the majors right now. I know those on this forum know that the kid is a defensive whiz, but I thought that was an impressive compliment.
