Nice debut.
Would’ve liked to see him pitch a few more innings, but it’s just his first game here. Let’s see what he can put together over the rest of this year.
Glad to see D’Arby Meyers go 2/4 today. Hopefully he can bust out of this slump. I was starting to get worried.

Throw him on the scrap-heap with the likes of Kyle Kendrick and Brett Myers. Neither of those guys amounted to anything, as we all know.

Brett Myers is hitting .230?!? No wonder they let him bat in extra innings yesterday. Oh wait… never mind.
It is nice to see Savery do well in his debut. They shoulda let him swing the bat tho 8^)

The Daily News article makes it sound like Norowyta was very pleased with Savery’s debut. He might get to Lakewood before the end of this season and/or start ’08 with Clearwater.

dajafi,
I believe the accurate paraphrase of the daily news article was that he might end up in lakewood before the end of the season and then double jump to reading.

I was talking about D’rby Myers.

What is everyone’s hurry to move Savery to Lakewood? I don’t get it. 2 years ago in Batavia, Warren Brusstar taught Kyle Kendrick a slider and sinker that propelled him to where he is today. Savery has a good changeup and fastball. Do you think he might be learning something in Williamsport? Like a third pitch? Some want to see him start in Reading next year. Have you considered he had labrum surgery and then would be pitching in cold weather for the first time in his life? Please.
Randy Wold once started at AA in his first full year in the system and was even moved up to AAA after 4 starts. His numbers were never any good after that and you can see where he is today.
Savery will get there when he gets there. Carpenter is at least a half-year to a year ahead of Savery. Ill be watching him before Savery.

Savery will start 08 in Clearwater whether he gets to Lakewood this year or not. Last year Carpenter (a 2nd round pick) pitched a measly 14.2 IP between GCL and NY-Penn League. He started the year in Clearwater. I don’t think it matters whether Savery gets to Lakewood.

Yep, I agree with that.
