* Really likes Cardenas, great character guy, good hitter, thinks the Phillies will move him one rung at a time and he will stay at 2B for now.
* Teams will call on Carrasco, Phillies won’t trade him
* Outman is solid, but his control is an issue
* Feels Happ probably isn’t even ready for AAA at this point but it’s not time to really worry yet.
* Phillies are being very cautious with Drabek, he’s been a model citizen this season.
* Likes D’Arby Myers and Quintin Berry
* Still optimistic on Costanzo
* He’s a big Savery fan. Says that he could be one of the steals of the draft, and that when he focuses solely on pitching, he’ll be even better.

Very interesting commentary. For me, I could hear more from this guy…I’d listen for another hour or two for a more comprehensive analysis…including some of our lower level guys. But I’m sure glad to listen to this talk.
One thing I did note was his commentary on the “dilemma” surrounding several “two-way players.”
His comments IMO were right on! He said that you don’t mess w a guy when he is a “2 for 1″ guys.” Instead of trying one then another role, every draftee needs to concentrate on only ONE position to concentrate on w/o mixing other position’s requirements/learning.
His reasons are spot on: any player needs to acquire SO MANY skills at EACH POSIION for learning during his earning his way up the ladder. Which thoughts were exactly in line w my own and others’ posts on the matter: which was raised several days ago here.
W/o going over them here, there appears to me to be quite a few of position players at Lakewood, Wlmsprt, and the GCL…plus the DSL and VSL, several of whom could move quickly UP…with others promising slower but rewarding climbs w/in the system.
Should the remaining 4 of our top draftees sign, IMO we’ve had a very good draft. EXCELSIOR!!
