Four more profiles added

Before Dave jetted to Florida for spring training coverage, he completed the profiles for Cesar Hernandez, Domingo Santana, Miguel Alvarez, and Freddy Galvis. I added the tools grades and youtube videos, and all of them are now published. As always, if you have any comments or feedback on a specific profile, please post it in the comments section of said profile. Thanks!

More profiles added

Just a heads up, profiles for Aaron Altherr, Cameron Rupp, Harold Garcia, Jiwan James, Tyson Gillies and Kelly Dugan. Thanks to Dave and Ryan for helping with these, as always.

Aaron Altherr to give third base a try

A source gave me the heads up a few weeks ago that the Phillies had given Aaron Altherr a few looks at 3B this winter, and now that Keith Law brought up the fact in his article today, I suppose its news fit for public consumption. I was told that he spent some time working out with Eric Chavez this winter, as they share the same agent….Altherr and Chavez, not Keith Law and Chavez. Early reports were positive, and it appears that his performance this spring will determine whether or not the Phillies go forward with the experiment. Altherr was a shortstop in high school, so the move to 3B is not really a huge stretch, certainly not as difficult as trying to become a catcher, or learning how to perfect the double play turn up the middle. Third base, in essence, is a reaction position, so it will come down to his footwork and instincts. This will be one of the more interesting story lines to follow in spring training.

Profiles…we’ve got profiles.

Dave’s machine-like pace continues, as he cranks out three more profiles, including Michael Schwimer, BJ Rosenberg, and Julio Rodriguez. Ryan also chips in with a Jon Singleton profile. If you have anything to add or want clarification of any of the info on any of the profiles, please ask on the specific profile post and we’ll address it. Thanks!

3 more profiles added: JC Ramirez, Pettibone and Naylor

Dave is cranking them out like a mad man. You can find profiles for JC Ramirez, Jon Pettibone and Drew Naylor, and links to all the profiles completed on the page at the top of the site.

3 more profiles added

A huge thanks to Dave for all of the work he’s put in helping create these profiles. You can find newly minted writeups for Scott Mathieson, Perci Garner and Austin Hyatt by clicking the links, or by using the “Profiles” page at the top of the site. My plan is to keep these profiles updated going forward, and to expand them with additional content. Also, if you stumble across random articles about players, and they have pages created, you can leave the links in the comments of the profiles, and I’ll eventually add a section for each player for all news links and stuff like that. Enjoy.

Three more profiles: Aumont, Cisco and De Fratus

Dave has been busy cranking out the profiles, this time churning out writeups on Phillippe Aumont, Mike Cisco and Justin De Fratus. Check them out, and give your thanks to Dave for taking the time to help create these valuable resources. As a reminder, you can find all of the profiles at the top of the site under, check this, the profiles page.

Aumont back to the bullpen

Per Matt Gelb, the Phillies have decided to move Phillippe Aumont back to the bullpen. They cite his comfort level there, and I suspect they’ve ascertained that he doesn’t have enough weapons to really make an impact in the rotation. 2010 was a lost year for Aumont in a lot of ways, but he did log plenty of innings, and I have to think that experience will prove beneficial. He’s still very young and still has plenty of time, but when looking at his value now, you have to examine it as a reliever. Discuss.

Brody Colvin profile

Hey folks. I’d like to thank Dave (posts articles here as “Puko”) and Ryan (posts articles here as rgatta) for offering their help in producing a number of profiles. I had started to write these, but with other endeavors, I have not had time to follow up and produce more. Dave and Ryan will be writing up a bunch of profiles in the coming weeks/months. All of them will be located on the profiles page, which you can get to by clicking here and for future reference, clicking the “Profiles” link at the top of the site. Right now, we have profiles available for Sebastian Valle, Jarred Cosart, Domonic Brown and Trevor May. Dave has just completed the Brody Colvin profile, which you can now find linked on the main profiles page, or by clicking here. All of the tools grades will be my subjective evaluations, as well as the video analysis, everything else will be produced by Dave and Ryan.

I do not want to include the “click here for more” link in the profiles, so they won’t appear on the main page. I will post updates frequently after a number of profiles are complete, and remember to keep checking the profiles page for new additions. Thanks.

Sebastian Valle scouting report

I meant to post this days ago, I linked to it on twitter, but I forgot to create a new post here. Anyway, Mike at scoutingthesally.com did a nice writeup on Sebastian Valle which you can check out here. Mike is one of the best out there in providing excellent first hand reports and content, so be sure and check it out.
