The Reading Phillies have played their final game, thankfully. The Phils finished the season by losing 5 of 6, to drop their Eastern League Southern Division worst record to 53-89, 12 games behind 5th place Altoona. The season isn’t over for all of the Reading Phils, however, as both Golson and Marson have already been summoned to the big leagues. Reading Phillies Weekly Report (8/20 – 8/26)
Even though the Phils stretched their losing streak to 9 games this week, they also managed to win 3 of 7, making this week much better than last week. The season is winding down, which is a good thing for the ’08 Reading Phillies. They are still playing rather poorly, and they just lost another excellent performer in Carpenter to the big league team. For Reading, the season cannot end soon enough.
Lets start off with some good news. Antonio Bastardo continued his impressive comeback this week by pitching very well in 2 starts. His first start against Bowie lasted 4.2 innings, and he gave up just 2 hits, 2 walks, and 1 earned while striking out 2. While this start was excellent, his following start was even better. Bastardo lasted 4.1 innings, giving up 2 earned on 4 hits and 3 walks, but Bastardo struck out a very impressive 8 batters. Good stuff. Bastardo is in line for one more appearance on the season.

Reading Phillies Weekly Report (8/13-8/19)
Sad, sad week for the Reading Phillies. The Phils played 7 games, and lost, you guessed it, 7 games. When the offense managed to score some runs, the pitching was horrible. And, when the pitching was excellent, the offense was putrid. All in all, it was a perfect storm for an incredibly embarassing week. Lets move on and highlight some of the prospects at Reading, who for the most part, had bad weeks.

Very busy and productive week for the Reading Phillies. The Phils performed at their best this week as they sent there two Olympic respresentatives off in style, going 5-2 on the week, while beating up on the likes of New Britain, New Hampshire, and Harrisburg. Reading Phillies Weekly Report (7/2 – 7/8)
Time for another Reading Phillies weekly report. Just like last week, the Reading Phillies managed to go 4-3 on the week, to climb all the way up into a tie for fourth place in the Eastern League Southern Division with a 37-52 record. Goodbye, cellar. I guess I should not get to excited, however, since we only hold a one-half game lead over the last place Erie SeaWolves.
