Top pick Shane Watson with a clean inning and a K in his debut in GCL. Immediately vaults him to the top 10 on BA’s top 100. Right?

Tyler Cloyd gets it done for Lehigh Valley. My mom was there. She said Cloyd throws as hard as “molasses in January”. Ok, she didn’t say that. But she was there.
Good night from Maikel Franco and Hoby Milner on the Delmarva, but the winner of that tilt is 2012 draftee Tim Carver from U of Arkansas, with his first pro homerun…it was of the “grand” variety.

I had completely forgotten about Justin Friend’s AA ERA.

Sounds like LV is getting some reinforcements – Cesar and Valle are going up from AA apparently, and Diekman and Savery were shipped out after the MLB game last night. Savery did a good job of warming up Juan Pierre in between innings last night, but he did not acknowledge me when I yelled his name as he was leaving the pen for the handshake line. Weak.
As for the games, Brody Colvin made his AA debut last night. Points for game management, I guess. 9 hits but only 3 runs in 5 innings. Struck out just 1.

Nice performance from Colin Kleven – 8 scoreless, 2 hits, 6 Ks, that’s it. And Delvi Francisco’s scoreless season ends on a 2 out balk. Bummer.

Adam Morgan goes the distance today, giving up 3 singles and walking none, while striking out 9 in 8 innings. His two runs allowed “earned” him a loss.
General Discussion – Week of 7-30-2012
So maybe Dom Brown will be in left field for my visit to Nats’ Park on Tuesday. If he is, I’ll yell questions at him all night. Let me know what you want me to ask. I can get very loud, so who knows, maybe he’ll answer. Or I’ll be asked to leave.

Keivi Rojas owns the GCL. 23.2 IP, 15H, 2BB, 33K. There’s a man in need of a promotion.
I’d say something nice about the starting pitchers in that Reading DH, but they both walked too many men for me to get excited about either performance.
Box Score Recap 7-27-2012
Kevin Brady had a heck of a night – 8k in 3 IP. He’s now thrown 9 innings in Williamsport and has has 16 ks. That’a a k/9 rate of something like…umm…let’s see…carry the four…well…let’s just say it’s good. And zero walks in those 9 innings, which I won’t even try to figure.

Cameron Rupp with 2 doubles and two walks in 4 trips to the plate. He’s been hot for a long time. Check out his pre/post All-Star splits and you’ll see around 120 PAs with increased power and walk rates. Yes, he is old for the league. Not much he can do about that except maybe hit Sebastian Valle in the knee with a club.
And this from the GCL – Kevin Walter pitched in a professional baseball game. Wild.
