Box Score Recap – 6/26/2013

Larry Greene’s on a 7-game hitting streak right now, with only 4ks in those 7 games. He’s OPSing .904 in his last ten games, and .717 in June. Greene shoots, you might say.

Oh boy, that’s bad. But no one complimented my killer “Steven Golden Sombrero” line yesterday, so today you get “Larry Greene Shoots”. Deal with it.

Box Score Recap – 6/25/2013

All you need to know about Tuesday is this – Steven Golden Sombrero.

Ok, I guess here’s more of my thoughts – Zach Green went yard again- his fourth in the 9-day-old season. Cord Sandberg hit his first pro homerun, and Kelly Dugan hit his 9th on the year. Brian Pointer with a double and a triple hitting out of the leadoff spot for Lakewood in Roman Quinn’s absence. Quinn has a hairline fracture and will be in a cast for 4 weeks. Add rehab after that, and he’ll miss likely close to 2 months. That’s the bulk of the year. Bummer.

Box Score Recap – 6/24/2013

Ethan Martin with another in a series of lines that look better if you skip the part we all know is the problem for Ethan Martin. 5BB and just 58% strikes, but he allowed just 1 run on 3 hits and struck out 8 in 6 innings. Be careful around Maikel Franco. He’s scalding hot. Like pre-lawsuit McDonald’s coffee hot. Andrew Pullin with his first HR of the year for Williamsport.

Larry Greene doubled and scored in the ninth to retake the lead after Delvi Francisco couldn’t hold it in the bottom of the eighth. Roman Quinn left that contest after the top of the first. He was hit by a pitch, stayed in the game to steal a base and score, and was then pulled – no details yet on any injury that may have occurred.

General Discussion – Week of 6-24-2013 – “Doesn’t it mean ‘Saint Diego’?” Edition

Late night Phillies this week. When will the West Coast realize East Coast people like stuff to happen earlier? Never, I fear.

Box Score Recap – 6/23/2013

Maikel Franco with 4 hits, just a double short of the cycle. Guy’s mashing so far in AA, with an OPS of 1.441 in four games. Zach Green is also raking so far – OPSing 1.209, though with 11 Ks in 31 PAs, with the usual late June SSSSS (Short Season Small Sample Size) caveat.

2012 High School draftee Drew Anderson with six hitless innings for Williamsport. 2013 pick Lee Ridenhour did his part with two more hitless innings, before fellow 2013 pick Rob Marcello gave up the first hit, a solo homerun, with 2 outs in the ninth.

Box Score Recap – 6/21/2013 and 6/22/2013

Maikel Franco with his first AA homerun. Jim Murphy and Tyson Gillies also went deep for Reading, while they got another fine performance from David Buchanan – 6IP, 3R (2 earned) on 5H, 1BB and 7Ks. That’s two good starts in a row. 2-5 with a double, an RBI and 2 runs scored for Larry Greene. 3 hits for Cesar Hernandez, and he stole #21, and he’s only been caught 5 times. Over 80% there, adding to his nearly .800 OPS at AAA. If he doesn’t graduate, he may push for a spot in my top 10 this off-season.

No GCL game today due to rain. Kind of a disappointment, though the roster is finally up here. No Jose Pujols. Curious. I’ll be out of pocket tomorrow and most of the day Sunday, so I’ve posted the link below to get those boxes when they come out.

Box Score Recap – 6/20/2013

Maikel Franco with a couple singles in four trips to the plate in his debut, and apparently he made a fine play on the move on his first chance in the field. I would make a joke about how he showed up Chase Utley, but I’m not crossing that guy in print. He’ll have a long life to payback his enemies, large and small, and I’ve no doubt he’ll find and destroy every single man who dared to write or speak ill of him, even in jest. Not because he’s vengeful, or filled with malice, but just because he’s such a hard worker, and he’s going to have very little to do with his time.

Box Score Recap – 6/18/2013

Nice night from Seth Rosin – threw 69% strikes as he got the 7 inning CG. Don’t know how many strikes Hoby Milner threw, just know that a good number of his pitches wound up falling in play and resulting in runs. Not his best. Maikel Franco with HR #16. Good night from Zach Green – 2 doubles and the first homerun of the year for Williamsport.

Box Score Recap – 6/17/2013

Kelly Dugan with his eighth homerun. More like Kelly DuGone, amirite?!?!?!?!? Severino Gonzalez with 3 Ks in 2 Innings. More like Severi”K”now, know what I mean??!?!? Dylan Cozens with 2 steals in his first game of the year. More like Dylan CozenSB, ok that one’s a reach. Just that one, though.
