Lehigh Valley is down to the last 13 games of the season after a 3-1 loss last night and are currently 67-63 and in 4th place of the Northern DIvision of the International League, 4.5 games behind division leading Rochester and 3.5 games behind Pawtucket in the wild card race.. With their loss last night, Lehigh Valley is 7-4 over their last 11 games. After an off day today, the ‘Pigs play Buffalo seven straight games, the first four in Buffalo, followed by three in Lehigh Valley.
News and Notes:Perci Garner won his AAA debut on Monday evening going 5.2innings and giving up 2 runs on 6 hits. He walked 2 and struck out 7 and looked quite impressive, taking a shutout into the 6th inning.
–In his last 14 AAA games, JC Ramirez is 3-0 with a 1.31ERA and 4 saves and has struck out 19 in 20.2innings.
—Pete Orr is hitting .375 over his last 18 games.
—Tyson Gillies has been hot, hitting .400 over his last 8 games.
–In the past 14 games, the Lehigh Valley bullpen is 2-2 with 4 saves and a 1.83ERA.
–Even with a 18-19 record over the last 37 games, Lehigh Valley starting pitching has posted a 2.25ERA.
–RP Mauricio Robles has a 14 inning scoreless streak and had back to back saves on Friday and Saturday.
–SP David Buchanan had quality starts in each of his 3 starts for the IronPigs.
–‘Pigs Prospects: Cameron Rupp has hit safely in 13 of his last 15 games (.356, 3HR 10RBI) and is at .325 over his last 22 games. Very productive offense to go along with a 38% caught stealing rate has put Rupp on course to certainly be the Phils #3 catcher next season if not the backup.
Phillipe Aumont continues to be inconsistent with a horrible outing followed by a decent outing. In his last 8 games, Aumont is 0-2 with a 5.40ERA and a blown save. His control remains the primary issue as during that time span, he walked 10 in 10IP. He also struck out 13 during that same time frame.
Freddy Galvis had a 41 game errorless streak snapped last week and has made just 3 errors since being sent down to AAA. He has been adequate with the bat, hovering around .250, and has hit .272 over the last 38 games he has played after hitting just .190 in his first 11 after being send down.
Transactions: Last Friday, RP BJ Rosenberg was called up to Philadelphia; On Monday, INF Miguel Abreu was promoted from Lakewood and SP Perci Garner was promoted fro Clearwater; On Tuesday, SP Tyler CLoyd was promoted to Philadelphia and SP Raul Valdes was optioned from Philadelphia to Lehigh Valley.
Probables: Thur: Buchanan; Fri: Smith; Sat: Morgan; Sun: Cochran

These reclamation projects bore me. Bernadina can’t play, Wells can’t play, who else you got?
When Rosters expand let me see Gillies, let me see Robles, let me see Rupp.

I realize this off topic and maybe a dead horse that has beem beaten. But colin moran and his 150 ab makes him a better 3rd base prospect than Franco . I dont get it . Sure he is taller and probably faster . But what has he proven nothing and franco continues to hit and gets no love because he doesnt take walks

Franco gets no love? Pretty much everyone on here views him as a Top 50 propsect and a likley above average regular with star potential, though with a few things to work on to reach that level. And despite some of the scouting issues, he made several midseason top 50 lists and will likley be on everyone’s top 100 list next year.
Also not sure who you are referencing regarding their opinion of Moran. But the guy is the 6th pick in the draft after being one of the top hitters in college. His current numbers in A ball are a bit misleading due to an incredibly low BABIP. His BB and K rates are very impressive. Don’t forget, rankings are based partly on projection, and rightfully so. which is why a guy like JP Crawford will be ranked ahead of many plaers that have produced at higher levels.

Weirdest baseball promotion ever… Get a free funeral? I’m sure that has people dying to go to a game. Sorry about that. I’m happy some 5 year old didn’t win it.
So who gets called up in September and who gets dropped from the 40 man roster? I saw the 40 man and there are a bunch of guys who can be dropped but probaby won’t. Freddy Galvis, Robles and Gillies are on the 40 man. they can be called up. Collier’s on the roster but there’s no freakin’ way he gets called up. I’d like to see Rupp get the call and drop McDonald from the roster. Valle is on the roster and I think they’ll keep him there but not call him up. The next thing will be, who has to be added to the 40 man this year? I know Matt said he’d take a look at that in a couple of weeks. That might help determine who gets called up. Heck, let’s put 40 men in the dugout and let them fight for playing time in Sept. There are bats and balls, fungos, donuts, cleats and a ton of other things that could be called weapons in that dugout. If 8 guys survive, that’s who plays.

I was wondering the same thing. For the 40-man roster, I count 39 including Halladay, who is coming off the 60-day DL. I imagine Robles, Galvis, Gillies, Aumont, and Rupp (needs a 40-man spot). JC Ramirez has been pitching well, so if they could find the spot on the 40-man roster (Lannan to 60-day DL, DFA Mini-Mart, etc.), perhaps him as well, as the Phils need bullpen arms. Do not see Collier or Valle. Who knows about Mini-Mart?

I wonder if they’ve seen enough of Aumont. He couldn’t do the job in the show, and he’s not doing the job in AAA. I don’t think I’d trust him in a game right now, even though the games mean nothing. Also, I don’t see Cesar Hernandez on that list – you gotta think he comes up on Sept. 1 as well. I’d like to see Rupp, but who gets DFA’d to make room? McDonald was one of Charlie’s boys, so there’s a possibility.
