A look back at the time period of 7/25 thru 7/31. Quick thoughts…What is the level of concern with Jesse Biddle who has led the Not Hot list for two weeks with significant control issues? I expect Nick Hernandez to land on the DL soon…something is not right again…Maikel Franco now has 24HR’s in just over 100 games….Larry Greene and Zach Collier are back slumping again…At the lower levels, Drew Anderson and Shane Martin have gotten us to notice.

I realize it is his third year in rookie ball.
And a small SS.
And somewhat BABIP driven.
But even so, he is still only 19 years old. You have to be a little impressed with Herlis Rodriquez,

I know I am. He’s really not much older than a lot of the guys we just drafted.

Been watching Herlis for weeks and almost commented here a few times but I’m just not sure what he could bring to the table as a corner. He doesn’t profile as a power hitter and doesn’t appear to be much of a threat on the bases. He toggles between center and left so not sure that he profiles as a true CF either. Admittedly I’m going by stats alone unless someone can offer a scouting report.

Any Info on what happened to Cozens ? He has been tearing it up lately , hopefully he isnt the next DL victim

Looks like he was taken out after being hit by a pitch. Hopefully nothing serious.

According to Mitch Rupert it wasn’t injury related. The Cutter’s manager wasn’t happy with something Cozens did after the HBP.

not point in giving away Cliff Lee… but Michael Young has no need to be on the team and potentially leech AB’s from Ruf or Asche. You could argue that Young can be placed on waivers and still traded, but that’s not actually 100% true.
Michael Young has a full no-trade clause. He can be placed on waivers, but if claimed he has to waive his clause to either be A)traded to that team or B)outright claimed by that team
As long as Michael Young is on the roster Charlie will play him until there’s an Art Howe “Moneyball” type moment between him and RAJ.

Two guys I’ve been noticing lately are Vilalobos & Tromp. Alejandro V. is old for the league but he has been hitting up a storm. Tromp surprised me. The 19 year old (20 in September) from Aruba has been hot and playing beyond my expectation. i thought, after last year and June of this year, he was the biggest fish in a little itty-bitty pond and he was drowning in the ocean. And then he hits .333 for the month of July. Let’s see if he can maintain it.

Vor had J. Tromp pegged from last year if I recall, as someone to watch..

Yeah. Other than his 1st 10-15 games in GCL last year, he has really hit. I’m still surprised that they aren’t giving him the majority of ABs in Williamsport. I can understand Cozens, because of the investment, but Justin Parr, I don’t get.

Gregg – On twitter you rebuffed someone pretty solidily who mentioned that Biddle may have had a blister which contributed to his control. Today on Crashburn Alley, Eric Longenhagen mentions the same thing. Why did you feel the need to laugh off one of your followers like that?
(For clarification, it wasn’t me. I saw it and was shocked that Gregg acted in such a manner.)

Larry Green isn’t slumping…he is not a good player. Those are different

Phillies should avoid going Green in the future. They have no luck.
Oops, check that, forgot about Zach.
