  1. May 2 was the date. Hanson and Guth were flipped. Hanson went to a starting role and Guth to relief. Hanson’s been great as a starter (SSS and all) and since Guth was moved to the pen, he’s been very very good. It’s nice to see.

Alonso, no matter what you think of him, has to be fun to watch. Yes, he’s 25 and in A+, but he’s a guy who will do what needs to be done. He leads off. He’s hitting .311 with a .411 OBP. He doesn’t strike out and he’ll take as many BBs as you need (22 Ks to 21 BBs). He’ll hit some doubles, triples and pops a HR once in a while. He appears to be solid defensively. His only weakness is an odd one considering he’s a righty. He’s only hitting .256 against lefties in 43 ABs. He’s crushing righties at a .337 clip. I’m not sure he’s seen a lot of lefties in Lakewood or Williamsport so he might be getting used to them. I suppose you could say that speed may be an issue too. He’s an on base guy but not a base stealer. I’d like to see him against more advanced pitching before I declare him filler.

      1. Minor leaguers are paid monthly but are only paid during the regular season. Lower level players can make around $1000 a month while the upper levels, particularly your 6-year minor league free-agent types, can make considerably more.

Your AAAA types can certainly make a living, as can catchers. But It could be a tough living for fringe prospects making $1000 a month, only getting paid during the regular season and having clubhouse dues deducted from their paychecks

    1. Agreed. Many of them sign for $ and also a ride to college or someone like Harper signs for a multi-million dollar bonus. Low A make app. 1050 a month 1st year Triple A app. 2150 a month then deduct your club fees, etc… If you could do what you love and get paid for it with a shot of making it, why not do it for as long as you can.

  2. Gregg – Really enjoy this feature, but if you could add walks to your reliever statistics that would be much appreciated. That is probably what I look for first when evaluating who can help the MLB team given their struggles with that. Thanks!
