We’re spoiled. Seven years ago it was an absolute chore just to find out who was pitching that night.

Hopefully Dom isn’t out too much longer; it’s been a real frustrating year for him. Also, this team is a real bore without Brown in the box scores. There is Cloyd every 5 days and Aumont, but even the relief prospects are mostly in the show or hurt. Susdorf has been the most interesting guy since he was called up.

Ryne Sandberg said today he will be out longer then expected since his knee isn’t coming around the way they had hoped.

Ryne Sandberg on Tuesday 26 June 2012, on Dom Brown.
“It’s going a little bit slower than we thought it would initially take,” Sandberg said . “He’s getting evaluated today and again on Thursday. Hopefully, we’ll get him on to baseball activities. Get him going towards getting on the field. “It’s probably also a little bit cautionary as well on the organization’s part, so he can get this behind him and have a number of healthy days down the stretch.”

Along with an big infusion of younger players be had via necessary trades, an urgency accomplished, there needs to be a change of managers for the big club. Taking nothing away from Cholly’s success over the last several years, we should realize that he is a manager who prefers veterans over climbing younger prospects.
The ideal man to replace Cholly is Ryne Sandberg whose continuing success at Lehigh Valley with a bunch of retreads and some newbies has been amazing over two seasons. At the very least, Sandberg must be moved up to be part of the coaching staff on the big club…before we lose him to another team as mgr or coach. He is too valuable for the team’s future to allow that to happen!

Theo Epstein is going to get him, if the Phillies don’t promote him..

Highly unlikely given that he (Theo) had an opening last year and didn’t even interview Sandberg for the job.
