Box Score Recap 6-15-2012

Trevor May gave up only 2 hits in 6 IP.  Sure, they were both HR, but still.  Jiwan is now 2 for 3 in 4 of his last 7 games.  Nice little run.  And Ervis with a good one for Lakewood.   Nice to see.

    1. Since returning: 8 IP, 3ER, 4BB, 12K. Dominant stuff, command stil isn’t where you’d want it. He might be the least-worst option for the Phillies bullpen right now, but is it worth messing with his development (you know, again) for a big league team that right now looks like it’s going nowhere? I’d wait until the second half, when the wild card thing starts to shake itself out and the team has a sense of whether or not they can be in it. No sense bringing him up with the pressure of “bullpen savior.”

    2. Agreed. “Shortly”, as in when rosters expand in September. There’s lot to like there and he’s near-ready, but not quite. When they call him up, I’d like it to be for good.

  1. Let more settling occur. Consistency from one outing to others is the game. Command will help enormously.

I DO agree that he should come up some time this season…since it appears we are groomimg people for the pen for soon if not now.

OTOH, no following Asche today. Guess they are headed for the Clwtr All-Star game.

  2. Yeah, it’s the all-star weekend for FSL. Utley played 4 innings of defense in intrasquad today, according to Matt Gelb.

  3. These Lakewood box scores are becoming something of a daily eyesore. At least we get Williamsport and GCL Phillies starting Monday

  4. Early guess on today’s announcement of Crosscutters roster:

    CA: Chace Numata, L Moore
    1B: Cris Serritella,
    2B: Tyler Greene,
    3B: Mitchell Walding,
    SS: Roman Quinn, Gustavo Gonzalez
    LF: Larry Greene
    CF: Jiandido Tromp
    RF: Zach Taylor
    DH: Cameron Perkins, Brock Stassi

    P1: Hoby Milner
    P2: Kevin Brady
    P3: Miguel Nunez
    P4: Kevin Walter
    P5: Braden Shull

My guess is they won’t play all of the young guys together, and will sit one every day by rotating Perkins, L Moore and Stassi into the lineup

      1. I knew there was a pitcher I forgot. You are right. Josh Warner will probably head the staff. JD Thierren will also get in the rotation somewhere.

        1. That could be. Looks like mine is already wrong though, because I see that Lakewood demoted James Birmingham to XST without calling anyone up, That leaves them with 11 pitchers, so maybe one of the recent signees goes to Lakewood.

    2. Per Mitch Rupert twitter: Musser, who was awful in GCL last year made the roster. No Thierren or Walter on initial roster. Yan Olmo and Diego Gonzalez in, Jiandido Tromp out.

  5. Matt Wolever said today that Larry Greene has progressed very well in EST and will be ready for Williamsport.
Also Watson, Gueller and Pullin will be in Philly on Monday and taking physicals on Tuesday, then a meet with the media.
