The “A” in Aumont stands for “Adventure”.

  1. Good start from May. After reading the recap, seems that he was the victim of some bad defense and the following relief pitcher allowing some inherited runners to score.

    1. I would say a so-so start considering a recent pattern of subpar starts. Most K’s in a game this year, and only one walk, but 17 hits (including 6 dingers) in 9 innings the last two games. An ERA near 5 this year…definitely concerning.

  2. Is there any information on Wilson Garcia, he is a 18 year old catcher putting up great numbers in the VSL, 3HR, 9BB/4K, 1.008OPS. I remember the name coming up last year but is he someone worth following over the course of the season

  3. Correct me if I’m wrong, but Rosenberg hasn’t pitched in over a week now. Did I miss him getting injured? Is his arm being saved for a promotion? Or am I wrong in that he has pitched and I somehow just skimmed over his name?

    1. Pretty sure the Phillies are calling him up. They just dropped pete orr off the 40 man and sent Raul Valdes to AAA so they are bring up a relief pitcher.

  4. Check out Ricardo Pinto’s line. The 18 year old, plaing in the VSL, had 15/0 GO/FO. It’s not a fluke either his saeson average is 3/1. Must have a heck of a sinker.

  5. Jeff T asked yesterday, and I’m asking today, why Pointer hasn’t played since 6/3? He’s not on the 7 day DL. Could it be they are giving him some time off to help him straighten out or are they going to move him to Williamsport when that season starts?

  6. Valdes is getting sent down so the Phils can bring up a righty. Rosenberg deserves the call. Aumont probably has some of the best stuff in professional baseball but is not ready yet. We will see.

  7. Every time one of the three prospect in the Lee trade doesn’t trip over their shoe laces it is a big deal. Meantime not one MLB inning.
The May outing points out how false minor league stats can be.
    BTW.Marlon Byrd released any interest???

    1. Was reading the same thing this morning. If he would accept a minor league deal? Then I think so.

Byrd has always been a professional hitter and I thought he would be a solid fill-in for Boston. He’s been Polanco-ish in the XBH department this year, but perhaps the sample is too small to draw any conclusions

  8. Freddy Galvis meanwhile may have a pars fracture. If that’s indeed the case, he’s essentially out for the season.

    1. Not an injury that the big club can’t overcome, but the Phil’s are one key injury away from being cooked themselves.

I have high expectations for Galvis though, particularly after how he has handled himself this season when it was clear that he needed more development time in the minors. Regardless, he seems to have a great make-up and all reports indicate that he has a great work ethic. He’s still young and should continue to add strength naturally in addition to the strength training program he’s taken up the past few seasons. I think he can develop a productive major league bat to compliment his glove in a few years. I certainly think he’s short stop capable

      1. Now that it looks like he’ll be in a back brace for around 6 weeks he can get unto a flat bench and do bench presses and curls with dumbells.

        1. Not sure if they will allow him to start that for a few weeks. Probably water therapy to start, and cardio.

    1. Eldemire had a PA last night, but both he and Pointer would probably benefit from some time in Williamsport. Eldemire is getting kinda old, though. He might just be asked to stick it out and hopefully improve on the fly in Lakewood.

      1. Agreed on Eldemire. He’ll be 24 before the start of the 2013 season. Though he hasn’t seen live game action the prior this season, he was also a college player. I think he stays at Lakewood and it’s more probable that he gets promoted in the final months of the season.

Most of his struggles have come against lefties (oddly, since he bats from the right side) but his slash against righties isn’t all that bad for a player who’s getting his first taste of professional baseball.

  9. Was at the Iron Pigs last night–Kratz came up with the big hit to put the Pigs ahead. Sanches did a good job in relief, but it was maddening watching Aumont in the 9th inning with a 3 run lead. He was hitting 96 MPH, but was inconsistent, some hard hit balls, full counts, gave up 2 runs–I thought he was going to give the game away. He did get a strikeout for the last out. He is still a work in progress.

    1. Is this confirmed? Last I read it was between Rosenberg and Aumont for the call up. That is per the release on the phillies website.

  11. Where has Darin Ruf & Tyler Gilles been for the past few games for Reading

Seemed strange that Buchanan was lifted after 5 innings & 74 pitches during tonights reading game

    1. Jay Floyd from PhoulBallz said Buchanan left with a sore finger – an issue he’s had in the past. Sounds less than serious, but who knows. Gillies had a concussion after a collission with Jiwan James in the outfield, maybe 10 days ago or so, and I can’t remember what happened to Ruf but he’s day to day.

  12. =I look at LHV’s boxscore in progress and see HR – Brown. Unfortunately it was for a player on the other team (ours is 0-3 with a BB, FYI)

  13. Could Mini Mart please play 2B tomorrow? Fontenot makes Wigginton look like Mike F’n Schmidt.
