A week that included 4 shutouts of the opponent led the ‘Pigs to a 5-2 week and 26-18 overall, landing them in 2nd place just a game behind division leading Pawtucket in the Northern Division of the International League. Lehigh Valley finishes their home stand with a morning contest against Louisville today before heading to CHarlotte and Gwinnett for an eight game road trip.

Notes:The Lehigh Valley franchise record scoreless streak ended at 38 consecutive innings when Chris Valaika homered off of ‘Pigs starter Austin Hyatt on Saturday. During the streak, the opposition was 0-30 with RISP.
—Kevin Frandsen tied a franchise record with 5 hits last night. He has hit in 7 of his last 8 games and is at.452 over that stretch.
–The ‘Pigs are an impressive 10-2 in one run games.
—BJ Rosenberg now has a scoreless inning streak that stands at 13.2.(7 games) . Rosenberg has also struck out 10 over his last 5.2IP. WIth the issues the Phils have had with relievers, he is quickly moving up the list of potential call ups.
–Over his last 8 games (10.2IP), Michael Schwimer has struck out 13 without walking a batter.
–‘Pigs pitchers are 12-7 with a 2.64 ERA with Erik Kratz catching.
—Austin Hyatt is winless in his last 6 starts, going 0-5 with a 7.36 ERA.
—Domonic Brown made his 2nd start since May 2nd yesterday.
—Steve Susdorf has hit in 7 consecutive games between AA/AAA (.324)
Transactions: Last Wednesday, RP Joe Savery was called up to Philadelphia. Also, OF Rich Thompson was traded to the Tampa Bay Rays for OF Kyle Hudson. On Friday, RP Phillipe Aumont was placed on the DL (Rhomboid strain), retroactive to 5.17.
On Saturday, OF Steve Susdorf was promoted from AA Reading. On Sunday INF Tug Hulett was assigned to AA Reading, while Pitcher Tom Cochran was activated from the DL.
Perhaps the pitching coach should get some of the credit, but managing a team to within one game of the division lead with no hitters among the leaders is a good accomplishment for Ryne Sandberg.
