Lets Get It Started

I really hate to use a Black Eyed Peas lyric to jump-start this transition and maybe I do in the hope that James will come back soon….but:

As James mentioned I have agreed to run the show.  I wont complicate things other than to simply say a couple of things.  First, the level of respect and decorum that has been demanded since the site’s inception should continue and a departure from that will not be tolerated.  Ok, now with that out of the way…

Secondly, the new email address for the site is phuturephillies1@yahoo.com.  I can be contacted directly there.

The transition will be a bit rocky for the next few weeks.  I will try to post as much as possible but I am going to need help from all of you.  If any of you would like to contribute to the site, I am listening so please email me directly.  First step will be to put someone in charge of daily boxscores. I would also like affiliate reporting and continued features on players, along with work on the draft (working on James with this).

So, hang in there through the transition.  While I feel like I have a good knowledge of the baseball side of things, if anyone can help with the site set up on the IT end, I would love to hear from you.

In closing….Darin Ruf!

  1. Since the inception of this site (2006) what Phillies prospect has had the most major league success? Worley? Bastardo? I’m probably missing a bigger one but can’t think of any.

      1. Bourn was on the major league team by 07. Hamels before that. I’m talking about the prospects we’ve followed since the inception of this site. So really anyone in the minors from the 2007 season to today.

    1. That’s an interesting question: I remember mentioning that when Dom Brown made his MLB debut, it felt like one our “our guys” had finally made – meaning someone we had followed from the beginning.

That being said and going with Nick’s criteria, my vote would likely be for either Worley or Bastardo. The latter was on his way to having an historic season last year before he hit that really rough patch. Worley was in the running for ROY. My vote would be for Worley given that starters have more value. Bastardo could still end up having a better career though.

Other candidates that I can think of would be Marson, Donald, Carrasco or Outman. The first three haven’t been anything special. Outman has had injury issue.

In a couple of years, D’Arnaud will likely be the winner.

  4. Welcome aboard Gregg.

Sorry if I missed it, how’s Ruff in the field? Is he a better fielder than Matt Rizotti? Anyone in MLB you could compare his fielding to? He i just killing it. Not getting crazy yet, but if he can field I’d be more inclined to keep an eye on him.

    1. Everybody is a better fielder than Rizzoti…I hope that both Overbeck and Ruf start taking some fly balls in left. I did read that was the plan for Overbeck. Plus I heard he does take ground balls at third as well. I wish Ruf was a 22/23 yr old 3b/lf prospect instead. He is just mashing the ball.

  5. Thanks Gregg! Now I don’t have to jump off my roof. I will even try not to argue with Larry M. Usally guys hitting near .400 get a little respect from management or their lapdogs in the press.
