Mailbag questions

Hey everyone. I’ve been meaning to write some stuff for the site recently, but every time I sit down and make time to do it, I forget what I wanted to write about. So I think this would be a good spot for a mailbag, maybe some of your questions would spur me on and give me ideas for longer posts. One thing I am going to do this winter, with my top 30 prospects, is release a Top 30 that also includes every prospect traded in the last few years who is still prospect eligible, ie, Drabek, Taylor, Cardenas, etc etc, which I think should be interesting. But anyway, if you have a question you want me to answer, follow these simple steps. Send an email to phuturephillies at gmail dot com. In the title, put “mailbag”. DO NOT POST YOUR QUESTION HERE, I WONT ANSWER IT!

Simple enough. I’ll try and post my answers either Friday or Saturday, depending on the response!

  1. Baseball America went to press before the Halladay trade last year. Apart from guys on that top 30, the only player I see appearing on a re-imagined top prospect list is Jason Knapp. Carlos Carrasco, Lou Marson, Jason Donald, Matt Maloney all graduated to the majors this season.

  2. Because its easier for him to get them through email and work through them there. Same as when Schwimer does it.

  3. I have a question for the rest of the readership. I’m working on my own top 30.
What are the names off my list whom I should re-consider? Here’s my list so far, in alphabetical order:

Altherr, Aumont, Bastardo, Biddle, Brown, Castro, Colvin, Cosart, DeFratus, Dugan, Galvis, H. Garcia, Gillies, C. Hernandez, Hyatt, James, Mathieson, May, Pettibone, Ramirez, Rizzotti, J. Rodriguez, Rupp, Sanchez, Santana, Schwimer, Singleton, Valle, Worley, Zeid

  4. Alan —
Very hard to argue with your list. ONe name I would include is Schreve. There are some LA players in rookie leagues(Castillo — who did very well just converting to the mound, Manzanilla — the youngest of this high K-rate pitching trio, and Bonilla; Alvarez, the OF from Williamsport) who are also worthy of consideration near the end of the top 30. Guys that have a decent chance, but it’s hard to bump others from your list are Stutes and Pettis. Guys I’d consider removing from your 30, although I understand why they’re there — Galvis,Rupp.
