  1. Come on NEPP get behind the guy (even though he doesn’t have the stuff to sustain prolonged success in the majors)…I predict 7 ip, 5 hits, 3 run, 2 walks and 3 Ks.

  2. Carrasco may be needed by midseason I dont know why
everyone thought Myers was a given He look like early last year. So someone in AAA may have to help. I am a little
worried about kendrick as a person given the tremendous
strain and disappointment . Thank god Huppert is there to school these guys.

  5. The only thing I saw from CC this spring was that he still has a long way to go. Compare his stuff to Edison Volquez or Cueto and his star dims substantially.

As far as Myers outing no worries. Once the line-up gets going we’re going to score more than 4 runs most nights.

Anyone going to the extremely cold exhibition in Reading tonight?
I had thought about it seriously but i have had enough of cold
maybe next year like i said last year at 66 I had better get there soon

that is damning with faint praise

  7. CC looked fine when he started, but like he said, he doesn’t like pitching out of the bullpen.

  8. ‘Opening day nod’ is overrated. KK gets it in a deferance for what he did for the big club the past two years.

  9. freaken weather . They shudda left Cole in Florida . KK is a very interesting human drama. I wonder what the rosters will
look like by July. Stutes and/or Worley may make AAA by late
season especially if Myers does falture and has to be replaced next year or maybe an outfield of Brown,Taylor, and Mayberry
wow all we need now is spring

  11. Stutes is on the fast track. If he gets off to a fast start in Reading, he’ll be in LV by mid-season.

  12. Kendrick will be fine in AAA, I love how he’s become the new personal whipping boy of Phils fans. He’ll have some ups and downs over the course of the year but he’ll be fine.

  14. Stutes had a rough first inning tonight, gave up HR’s to Donald and Tracy. Command was suffering.

  15. Donald just tripled to go with his two run homer. Too bad no room exists for him at the next level. Wonder why he is at SS rather than 3B?

  16. Yeah, you’ve got to really wonder how long they can keep him at AAA if he keeps hitting. It’s not like Feliz is a + 3B.

I think they are playing him at SS because he holds more value at that position. They still may be looking at him as a chip more than anything, which is a shame, because he could provide cheap, steady production at 3B for the next 3-4 years.

  18. I just got back from the game. I didn’t stay long, I really wanted to see Taylor, Stutes, Donald, and Marson.

Stutes couldn’t throw his slider. It looked good, he just kept bouncing it in the dirt. He was sitting at 91-92. Not much life and didn’t have good command. I think the cold might have been affecting that. The double he gave up to Rich Thompson is handled by a good first basemen. It was fun watching the Donald AB. He made some good pitches too him, but ultimately lost.

Taylor had a nice AB. He almost killed Rodrigo Lopez with a single up the middle. He was behind on a couple of pitches at first though.

I was able to meet Worley, Savery, Taylor, and Donald. All seemed like great guys and were very nice. Savery said his arm feels great. Worley and Taylor couldn’t stand the cold lol.

  22. If gillick is then lord help us the best exec on the team last year was named minaya. They won inspite of pat 22 man roster and all( i still shake my head at the SO-SO situation)
Obviously Burell left friend among the player (hamel groved one for him)
the man does love to spend money and Ibanez is overpaid
so you guys may be right

  24. Man, what is the crazy talk evolving in this thread?

Gillick hoarded draft picks- hence what is now a #12 ranking in baseball.

And the republican party didn’t take over the phillies front office- its not as if Pat Gillick is hanging around to play the role of Dick Cheney. Its nearly minor league opening day, bask in the glory of all that is!

  25. I tried to understand the 12 ranking, there isn’t much at triplea a little at doublea most to me is based on last years draft?

Just that there have been an obvious change in thinking at the minor league level(read Amaro can do what he wants) but at the major league level you can sense Gillicks influence
The only really positive things that have happened is cleaning up past giant mistakes.

  27. I would say winning a World Series and having the #12 ranked farm system in baseball could be counted as positive things.
