And now for something new; a message board!

So, this is something I’ve been meaning to do for a long time, and I finally got around to it tonight. We now have a phuturephillies message board/discussion forum. You can find it here. Proboards seems decent enough for a free discussion forum, its going to take some time to figure everything out and add different things to it, but I think it will serve the purpose for now. As I’ve mentioned before, the purpose of this site has never been to turn it into a message board, though the discussion is great. I don’t want to extinguish all of the discussion from this site of course, but I wanted to provide another outlet for people to discuss whatever they’d like relating to Phillies prospects. Its a work in progress, but it should be fun.

  1. Hey James. I have lots of experience setting up, running, and moderating on Proboards. I’ve created at least two boards on there (that have since gone defunct).

  2. The message board is up and running now, complete with full assortment of boards. You can either post suggestions on the general board or right in here and I’ll get to them when I can (and James gives me the go-ahead).

  5. Seems like Valle is being used as a defensive replacement late
Good experience since he is the youngest on the club by four years.

  7. No wonder the Cubs were so hot to get rid of DeRosa. They signed Arron Miles .317 .355 almost immediately.
He would fit here replace Bruntlett at least .. Well at least we did lose any prospect.

Howard to the yankees for great prospects
Fielder to Phils for Myers(who will be gone)(Maybe cash)
Plus one of the Yankees pitching prospects . Once you get over the shock it might work

Why in the world would they do that though? I mean the Brewers not us.? They don’t want another rental pitcher.

  11. well yankees have texiera and swisher so i think they’re covered at first, otherwise they would jump on it, we would be foolish. It would have to begin with hughes, and joba etc. and they would probably not include joba. Your other proposal is almost equally as lopsided the other way. Myers would only be the beginning. Marson and either carasco or taylor would have to be included for the brew crew to do this. remember we are approaching them, they are not considering trading fielder. We would have to make it sweet! why not just keep our superstar 1st baseman and trade myers if we are out of it in july or get our type a free agent if we are still in it? I love trade proposals though and sometimes you have to think outside the box. Wouldn’t GM be the best job in the world besides playing professionally if we were that gifted?

  13. REPORT Cubs giving out free Pie

    Here is real bs
Were sorry to have to part with him,” said MacPhail of Olson, who went 9-10 with a 6.65 ERA last season. “Obviously, it’s not an area that we have a lot of depth in, but we think that may change as the season progresses. It’s just a situation where we have to give something up in order to get something we need.”

  14. Yes the phills are intersted in Sheets but may only offer him a small minor league deal with alot of incentives and an invite to spring tranning. For trading proposals why not try and and trade Adam Eaton and a mid to low level prospect for a decent left handed reliver now that JC is gone for 50 games you solve two problems (A) you get another lefty in the pen and (B) you clear salary cap room.

  15. one thing the new administration must do is tone down the whole BASCO thing. Set up a minor committee. In a country
with huge huge drug problems and huge problems in general
the has become just a headline grabbing ,get even, excuse for not going after the people who kill or injury thousands everyday.
A new broom should sweep clean

I would absolutely love it if the phillies would do that, unfortunately there isn’t a single team that would do this deal with even half of his 8.5M sallary being paid by the phils. Padres maybe, if phils pay 6.5 because of the big ballpark, need of cheap pitching and his moderate succes there a few years ago. I would do this in a heartbeat! By mid to low level do you mean a Brad Harmon/Slaydon type or a Bastardo/Naylor type. The latter would be difficult to swallow unless he was under contract next year as well in case Eyre (lefty) doesn’t perform well. This potential reliever should be at least 3-2 3.35–4-3-3.75 type reliever.

  17. that last comment was Marky Mark, don’t know why my name didn’t come up. Sheets would be nice. He deserves better than minor league deal. Worth at least 4-5 mil base plus potential to reach 12 mil

  18. I am trying to research how the phils come up with college player maybe while scouting this guy They found Stites and draft him a year later??? anywho great job

  19. just read that phils are trying to recoop only 1 mil of 9m(thought it was 8.5 for this year) but have no takers because most teams believe phils will eventually release him and they would only have to pay 400,000. This is one of the worst contract of recent years, yet it doesn’t sting as much as the freddy failure trade, losing both gavin and gio who will probably be a nice 3.

  20. Well gavin was not doing well with the phills and freddy was doing well. My opion is Gavin would not as succesfull with the phills. He looked really nervous on the mound. No one thought freddy was going to be hurt.

  21. Freddy Garcia had tremendous run support before he came to the Phils. He won only 4 games where the team didnt score six runs . The history of the Phils is that they dont look
at these type of things. they are lazy about stats and do this over and over (see Eaton, JD Durbin)
Had Happ received Garcai’s starts and the respect he should of had off his Reading games maybe he would of not been hurt in the minors and progressed .
Hopefully Ruben will be more intelligent about his work

  22. Well it wasn’t that he got hurt, that wouldn’t be as bad. If you remember management failed to give freddy a physical. How do you not give a guy about to get 10 mil a physical. Guess we’ll never know if gavin was jut a late bloomer or was vexed by the short porches or just needed a change of scenery. sure would love to have hammels-floyd-myers-blanton-gio with kk,happ, carasco waiting in the wings.

  23. Good point nowheels, that’s why I’m a proponent of looking at era as being more indicative of how well a pitcher is performing. Big time pitchers will however find a way to win a couple of extra games with grit when they don’t have their best stuff and by knowing what pitch to throw in certain situations. If there were to free agents 1) 14-9-3.10 and 2)18-7- 4.10 i”ll take the former over the latter.

  24. I dont know how long ignorance of stats has existed in the Phils but Wade signed Paul Spoljaric against whom batters were hitting nearly .500 on first pitch. A short trip to any stat page would have told him that but …
