I’m going to do some work on the site this weekend, including possibly changing the layout/design/color scheme and all of that stuff. It feels like its time for a face lift. So if you check back and things look out of whack, don’t sweat it, I’ll get it back in order. Thanks.
[Update 1]
So I’ve done a bunch of re-organizing. I changed the main theme of the site. It seems a bit more bright and less dark/dull, which I think makes it easier to read. I’ve changed the hierarchy on the left side, using a few more category headers and trying to better organize the categories. I also added a FAQ/Intro type statement and some site rules.
[Update 2]
Ok, I’ve scrapped the new design and brought back the old version. I changed the red color to a brighter red, and I’ll continue to work on some other things.
james, love the site and will continue reading even it looks like a myspace page

Looks like a lot of work…but good luck.
It looks “clean” already.

The site itself looks a lot cleaner. However, it has lost it’s Phillies feel. I think it would look a lot better if the color scheme was changed to something more red-based and less blue and green based. I mean, just something as simple as changing the title part to red and light red instead of blue and light blue would do the trick I think. Alternatively, if you found somebody creative on Photoshop who could put together a nice banner, I think it would be awesome in that space.

I agree with the necessary change, but I also think a Phillies theme is a must also. Where is the recently posted section? I like seeing when people post on a topic from a while back to rehash old questions, and that’s the only way to see who commented on what. Good luck with the remodeling.

+1 on the recently posted section. a necessity.

Much nicer too look at. Could use some background color instead of white.
Don’t change it if the vote goes to don’t like it. It’s not what it looks like more then what is inside.
That is grade A.

I like the design setup, good job. It could use the Phillies logo or flag/banner or something across the top to give it the Phillies feel.

I like it, but I think the color scheme could use a little more tweaking. This is a Phillies site, therefore, some red should be incorporated. And I know you prefer the site to look professional, so I think the banner should be updated a bit as well. As mentioned, it looks a bit like MySpace; and I don’t want newcomers to think that this is just that…a MySpace page…because it’s much more than that and shouldn’t ever be mentioned in the same sentence.

The old page seemed to give the site a unique identity, making it feel more like a standalone website rather than a blog. The current theme seems to scream blog, or, as others have mentioned, myspace. And, seeing as I feel phuturephillies is so much more than just a blog, I would probably vote for some more tweaking. Also, the recent posts section was very nice in the old design.

Other than the non-Phillies color scheme, it’s a nice layout.

By the way, I should add, great work on the site overall. You fill a really important niche.

I’m going to agree with everybody who has said that the recently posted section needs to be put back up. Without it, there’s no way to know when something like Cosart’s HS coach posts in a 4 month old topic otherwise.

I know this is very similar to the old design, but it seems fresher and cleaner, easily the best so far.

Definitely like the red banner – much better

The Layout isnt the problem, it’s the logo – you need a fancy logo and give yourself an identity. And maybe a mascot- Phooter the Phoreseer?

This theme doesn’t allow you to upload a custom header, I’d have to use custom CSS or whatever its called, and I have no clue how that works.

dont like it , very confusing. no way of knowing who wrote what or what subject is up. then again computers are not my forte. its like the eagles not wearing kelly green anymore. by the way kudos to the flyers for going back to their real colors.

How is it confusing? I think the left side, the navigation of the site, is even easier now. Before things were not well organized.

PP – however you make the site is fine with me. Still one of my favorite sites…a must read.

Much more organized, chief.
I’d put out a request for someone with “custom CSS design” experience and see if they’ll hook you up for free. One of these hundreds of posters has to be web design literate…right?

I am CSS fluent if there is a need for that skill around here…exactly what kind of header would you desire, PP?

I like the format, brighter is better. I know PP is a busy man, but I found the Mailbag portion on the left very entertaining, maybe start that up again once a week so people don’t have to ask you questions on posts?
