Zac (Philadelphia): How do you grade out the Phillies farm system? It seems like it is rapidly improving with the likes of Carrasco, Marson, Donald, D’Arnaud, Drabek, Taylor, Brown, and Happ? Am I dreaming, or is the Phillies farm legit for the first time in years? Thanks.

I think he’s right about the strength of the system. If nothing else it seems that we might have a nucleus of people who will make it to the big club for sure (esp. with the economy being what it is), and the people who are blocked or in any way unfitting for the Phils, will be tradable for real big league help. Hence not overwhelming, but at least the system can produce important components for the future. Like it is supposed to.
P.S.: you never realize how much signing type A agents and trading for the “big fish” cripples the system until you wait a couple of years. I mean we’re just starting to rebound after what 6+ years?

I’d like to know Savery or Garcia, or better yet Carrasco or Drabek. I think I submitted to one of those chats once. I thought it was a good question (and didn’t pertain to just the Phillies) but it didn’t get answered. I guess it’s just a crapshoot on how gets through?

I agree PP Fan, Savery doesn’t look like he’s going to make an impact unless he improves dramatically.

well, this is a make or break year for him and he might blow it out. he might have just needed an off season to rest and work on mechanics. i hope he blows it out.
i just like stirring the pot on savery. it usually turns into a heated discussion when i do 🙂
