Yesterday was Outman, who is today? Lots of other guys mentioned yesterday, should make for an interesting vote. So far

01. Carrasco
02. Cardenas
03. Savery
04. Costanzo
05. Outman

And here’s a reminder for the eligibilty

For the purpose of this poll, consider “eligibility” to be less than 50 AB/25 games for a position player, and less than 25 IP/20 games as a pitcher.

So, here is where a few other guys stand

Mathieson: 37 IP. Not eligible
Zagurski: 25 G. Not eligible

  1. For me, it’s tight between Donald and Marson, but I’ll have to go with Donald’s track record over Marson’s potential. If Marson puts up similar numbers in Reading next year, he immediately rockets up to third on this prospects list behind Carrasco and Cardenas.

  2. I am going with Carpenter here. He is more of a safe pick rather than a high ceiling pick. There are good arguments for Donald, Golson, Drabek, and even Garcia here. On talent it would be Drabek but the surgery is pushing him back a few spots for me.

  3. I hope they fast track young Darren Byrd. He was a ground ball starting pitcher for Lakewood. Had a great August there. He is my pick here.

  4. Carpenter, this is the a key year for him. People say he doesn’t have the stuff to compete in the majors. If he can come out and dominate AA , he’ll be on his way.

  5. For me, this is a tight race between Donald and Harman. This is more a hunch than anything else, but I think Harman is in the process of taking off in a very big way. He gets the nod for me, even though I am fully aware he won’t be in most people’s top 10 list.

  6. Have to go with one of the guys I think can be an impact major league player. That is Drabek or Marson. I’ll go with Marson because of Drabek TJ surgery. He has the higher ceiling, but this is likely to high to vote for a guy who is low odds to pitch, or at least pitch well, in 2008 (learned my lesson ranking Mathieson #2 last off-season and putting Segovia in top 10. Comeback from TJ not as automatic as often advertised).

  7. Wow…I’m now torn. I love Carpenter. He’s just a player and he gets it done. But I’m also a believer that Drabek will bring it together and he will be a great pitcher. His upside is outstanding and his attitude problems are so overblown. So once again a battle of stats vs. ceiling.

My vote goes to Kyle Drabek.

  8. Carpenter- proven ability to dominate (perfect game)- proven ability to get the job done- led league in wins- experience and more challenging environment will lead to better consistency and focus.

  9. Lou Marson for his incredible step up this past season and playing one of if not the toughest position on the field. He’s got a ways to go but looks to be great player in the bigs

  10. JA Happ– even though he is getting ZERO love from anybody here, im sticking with him because he’s got a terrific chance to be a very solid pitcher for a long time if he tweaks his delivery and mechanics. A nice lefty tag-team with Cole for years to come.

  11. Carpenter. I like Marson, he improved a great deal, and his numbers suggest he might keep improving, but he’s still not hitting that well to consider him above guys with current ability and output.

  12. Andrew Carpenter.

The young man really put himself on the prospect map this year with his great pitching. He was absolutely dominant for a championship team and probably the best Phillies minor league pitcher this year, based solely on his statistics and consistency (not saying he’s better than Carrasco).

I was very hesitant about drafting him last year and didn’t see him to have a ton of upside outside of a relief pitcher or possibly a #4 or #5 starter. But this year changed my opinion. I think his upside is now pretty evident in his pitches and command. He’s really skyrocketed up this list.

I like Carpenter here at #6 and Donald at #7.
