  1. Manuel Urias saw his first game action on 2022. Pitched 2 innings. Gave up a hit. K’ed 3 but allowed 3 inherited runs to score. He pitched very well in the DSL last year. The big 3 from the DSL pitching staff are all on CLW: Urias, Jean Cabrera and Oswalt Medina. Hoping these guys can expand the pitching core past Abel and Painter

  2. I was at the Jersey Shore Game yesterday. Two scouts and and Ani Kilambi were sitting in the row in front of us. The stadium radar gun is way off, McGarry was hitting 97 on the scout’s gun. McGarry didn’t seem to have great command, but his ball had a lot of movement and his curveball was nasty for the most part. Marchan catching definitely got him a couple calls. In the third inning McGarry had men on second and third with nobody out and got out of the jam with the heart of the order up. He struck out number 3 hitter Ceddanne Rafaela and got number 4 hitter Alex Binelas to hit a major league pop up to end the inning. On another note, the starting pitcher the for the Drive, Brendan Cellucci, walked two batters, and promptly picked them both off. Baron Radcliffe led off the game with a walk, and was picked off before the first pitch to Marchan. He never flinched before the move to first.

  3. I saw Erik Miller threw three innings last night on 23 pitches of which 18 were strikes..No hit/walks. His ERA/1.83. My guess he’s headed to Lehigh Valley before long..

  4. Good night in the farm last night. LHV lost but Reading win, JS win twice and CWater won also. Abel pitched well, Ben Brown followed up his great start with another great start (very exciting), and Painter was his usual dominant self. Plus Lee bounced back from his short slump with 2 hits including his 7th homer.

  5. If the big club’s season continues the way it is, I hope the Phillies make a spot for Appel on the 40 man. I need something to root for.

  6. Johan Rojas on 6/2 last year was hitting .184/.231/.281. On 5/31 this year, he’s hitting .189/.254/.266. He went on a 12 game hitting streak after 6/2 last year. Let’s hope something like that occurs again. He has 22 SBs this year but stealing 1st base has never really been a thing. The new coaching might be trying to alter him or he’s a guy who lights it up when the heat of summer comes on but I’d like to see some of that spark that had everyone, including me, rate him so highly. Jersey Shore could probably pick 8 guys out of the stands to hit better then the team is so far.

  7. Perhaps Rojas has turned the corner…three hits last night.
BA is now over .200 now.
    Wilson staying steady
And McGarry still trying to get his control in order, and just that one bad inning.

    1. I appreciate the optimism Romus but these two may play in the MLB one day but I would put a sell grade on both of them if they were stocks…

Impactful bats in the show generally don’t struggle at these levels at their ages…

      1. I can see your point….Rojas does have many plus tools….the prototypical CFer.
His bat is not built for the corners
His bat does come around once the seasons do roll on….just not to the point of a can’t miss Acuna/Soto OFer.

Then again I look at some others who had can’t miss superstar tags and they have had their struggles at the MLB level,….Robles, Margot , Pache etc
So I am just staying hopeful on Rojas based on his raw talents.

        1. Great point on on those 3. Its why I’m having trouble seeing them as above average regulars…

        2. I don’t understand the hype of Rojas. If you look at his stats this year or even last, how it it better than someone like Wilfredo Flores? What tools does he have that Flores doesn’t. Look at Lee Sang and his tools and numbers after 2 months vs what Rojas did over the same number of months at that level. How is Rojas a top 5 ranked prospect VS these two other outfielders?

          1. I can tell you only what these old eyes see in him.
55 plus for field, arm and speed.
Granted his offensive metrics for almost 1200PAs are pretty average….267/.326 /399 ……..but he swings a very quick bat with authority.
Also one has to like his K/BB metrics….K-16%….BB-7%.

          2. Johan Rojas is 21 at High A.
Marcus Lee Sang is 21 at Low A. Wilfredo Flores is 22 at Low A.

Age matters when it comes to prospects. Not only that, Rojas has more power, and his defense is already considered to be near elite.

  8. With the Angels coming to town would anyone consider a swap of prospects that struggle in their call ups and by that I mean Adell for MM? MM from Cali Adell from NC.

Adell right handed MM lefthanded maybe the change of scenery would do them both well. I’d like to have right handed bat to compliment Herrera in CF and if they do decide to shut down BH Adell can play solid in both CF and RF

Thus you allow Castellanos to go DH full time or go back to swapping with Kyle

    1. That would be interesting swap of 2 prospects who do need a change of scenery. However, Adell looks to be a terrible defensive player. He’s already -1.1 dWar in his young career. At least Moniak is decent with the glove (-0.1 dWar).

      1. Yikes lazy on my part not to look that up. I thought from the few times I saw him in ST games he looked pretty good and pretty fast out there.

Thought maybe he was taking his ABs out to the field.

        1. OF defense is all about range and arm strength. Can he get to balls that other OFs can’t? Can he stop runners from taking an extra base?

You can answer those questions about Castellanos for yourself and you’ll find out why he’s at -1.2 dWar already.

  9. 19 yo Leandro Pineda has 5 OF assists in 11 games. He hasn’t shown the ability to hit yet but don’t run on him.

  10. O’Hoppe with number 9 HR last night and now over .300 BA
Hao Yu Lee….has not played since Tuesday…..maybe they are forcing him to rest, or he has a slight tweaking injury….or perhaps he is getting his bags packed, transportation in order, to head to north Jersey
