Requena’s FB was 89-95 mph and sat 91-93 mph. He seemed to rely on his FB more tonight. He threw it on 72.5% of his pitches (58/80). Five of his 7 strike outs came on FB, 3 of them looking. He threw strikes on 48 of his 80 pitches (60%), and 10 of 18 first pitches were strikes (55.5%). He would mow through the Tigers then suddenly lose it for a short stretch. He ran six three-ball counts, and opened the third inning with 5 consecutive fast balls out of the strike zone. It’s probably not as big a deal as I make it sound. It was just his second start since coming off the DL.
