His FB range was 89-94 mph.  He sat 91-93 and touched 94 once.  Of the 50 strikes he threw, 16 (32%) came on swings and misses.

@roccom – Kerrigan had a rough night.  Seabold struck him out twice – once looking at a 93 mph FB to end an 8-pitch at bat, and a second time swinging during a three-pitch at bat of all off speed pitches (78, 80, 79).  He struck out looking against Paulino in the fifth, and grounded out to second off Quinn in the eighth.  He had entered the game with the second best batting average in the FSL.

  1. Hall keeps hitting…. Do we have any feeling on Lartigue?
Jo Jo getting rocked again worries me. Is he healthy?

    1. I like Lartigue but he could find it tough as he moves up. He’s already 23 yo. He’s a Catcher, 1B and DH. I don’t think he can top Hoskins or even Hall at 1B. As a catcher, he has a CS% of 30%. He’ll be given a chance as a catcher and we’ll see how that progresses. He’s a guy with a pretty good bat as his .282/.364/.487 attests. He can pop a HR once in a while but he Ks at a 33% clip right now. He’ll have to increase his pop and decrease the Ks to be successful.

  2. Romus there goes Darick Hall getting hot. Does he he make it to Reading by June? He’s OPSing 999 right now with 7 dingers and still not to 100 PA’s.

    1. If Hall hits like this with power in Clearwater, he will probably dominate Reading and then be challenged again at AAA. It would be nice for him to play this year at A and AA and then play a full year in 2019 at AAA and then see where we are. By that time, Santana will only have a year left on his contract.

    2. DMAR….yes I can see him there if he continues to rake with his current OPS and ISO. And saw something from him a few weeks ago……a lefty on the mound and they had a modified pull shift on him…and he bounced a ball thru the left side of the infield to drive in a runner from second base.
So he knows what he has to do to help the team and his own slash…..and then he will need to make the the two-strike adjustments. He swings so hard and with his size the ball is an Air Force zoomie….his exit velocity must be very high.

    1. From what I read last season at Lakewood…his defense was more than adequate.
His raw metrics looked good at LKW….Chances 607, Put Outs-548, Assists-52, Errors-7, DPs-48. Fld %-.988 …not sure what his range is over there.
Probably never be a Gold Glove candidate but his bat will carry him.

  3. Hi Jim –

Thanks so much for the daily recaps, I’ve been following the site since ’08 and 10-years later it continues to be my go-to reading material every morning (10 years — crazy!). The content that you provide is incredible and its amazing to see how far the site has come.

I was wondering if it would it be too much trouble to add the number of K’s into each batter’s line in the recap? Happy to check for myself, if so.

    1. Thank you Nick, I included the Ks last year and was prepared to include them this year. But, I have become increasingly more sensitive toward negative comments. My including the Ks would just provide another easy focal point for negative commentary. I’ll consider adding the Ks in a couple weeks. In my current state of mind, I am close to eliminating comments on the Box Score Reports. Too many readers are making broad decisions on three weeks (or less, because the negative comments started almost as soon as the season started) of minor league baseball, development baseball. I make the mistake of reading the comments while I’m in the media booth at the ball park before the game, and doing so usually puts me in a poor frame of mind. So, adding a lightning rod stat like strike outs would probably just push me over the edge. I promise, I will reconsider in a few weeks.

      1. Jim,

If my opinion means anything, I would ask you to continue allowing comments in the boxscore recap. There is a lot of interesting discussion and a lot of information offered by posters. I cn weed out the negatives and focus on the productive comments.

Finally, you are amazing in what you do. You make this the go-to site. Whatever you decide to do will be the right decision.

Thanks very much for producing this fan’s most informative, interesting and rewarding site.
