Hot or Not

Second to last edition of Hot or Not for 2015, with a look back at August 5th-15.  I would like to see Kelly Dugan spend the last two weeks in Lehigh Valley…Freddy Galvis, 5 tool player?…Getting excited about Andrew Pullin who has been very consistent since early May…Cameron Perkins has fallen below the Mendoza line, approaching 200 AAA AB’s…Adam Loewen has shown me enough to scare me if the Phils dont give him some sort of opportunity.  He could end up in another organization and have success…I expected to see Dan Child in Reading at some point this year.  Instead, he was just demoted back to the GCL.

  1. Where the heck is “Squeaky Toy” Cuicas? Oh, minimum 18 ABs over the period. He’s only 8 for 12 over the period plus he had a BB. He had 5 RBIs. Sorry, this is my 3rd mention of Cuicas in the last 2 days. I’ll stop.

  2. Pullin is damn close to a top 10 prospect for me. He continues to make strides. His avg is up to .280 and with a much improved K and BB rate. I keep hearing how his power may not project that much but he does have 8 in LWood. That could translate to 15 in CWater. Not bad for a 2nd baseman. Hopefully, his D continues to improve.

  3. Face it. The Phillies organization sucks from top to bottom. If you deny it, you’re lying to yourself. Joe Jordan should be tarred and feathered and run out of the country for his poor handling of the teams and players.

    1. JPC . Franco . Nola .all don’t suck . And in the big leagues Hamels . Utley and and we’ll not a whole lot else . Oh and wait a minute I know what’s going on here you are you and weren’t around during the lean years .have faith things will turn around

  4. What’s wrong with Jake Sweaney? He’s played 1 game in August (on 8/2). He’s not listed as on the DL. Didn’t KLaw think he was in the top 15 of the Phillies organization? He’s had 51 ABs in the GCL this year and he’s repeating the GCL. I’m trying to figure this riddle out.

I’m also interested on people’s take on Venn Biter. He’s repeating the GCL and hitting .217 which is a huge step back from the .288 he hit last year. He’s stolen 10 bases and been caught once but it’s still hard to steal 1st base to get on base. If I were to pick the biggest prospect disappointment this year, I’d have to start with Biter. Larry Greene is the biggest disappointment since he started in the organization but Biter is this year’s winner. I no longer expect anything from Greene.

    1. I noticed that about Sweaney and T. Williams. Haven’t seen them in lineup lately. Don’t know what’s up. As far as Biter is concerned he was more a
lottery ticket. Kinda like Golden and Knight. Not a highly recruited HS player who Phils signed hoping he’d develop a little later. Obviously, not the year you want but not sure what was to be expected.

    2. Not sure what’s up with Sweaney; I had sort of forgotten about him. It’s been quite a disappointing two seasons for him.

As others mentioned about Biter, expectations weren’t all that high for him to begin with. Even looking at his success last year in a SSS, he was lucky with BABIP. Frankly I’m surprised that the Phillies have hit him leadoff for so many games, which seems to indicate that they like him at least a little.

    3. for me I think it’s Nesseth. I fooled myself in to thinking he’d be close to the bigs by this time.

  5. Phillies organization sucks from top to bottom. Joe Jordan should be fired. The organization has gone from bad to worse during his tenure as director of player development.
