Career Synopsis:  The Phillies waited after July 2 to make a splash in 2011 signing Tocci when he turned 16 in August.  They sent him stateside for Fall Instructional Leagues.   The Phillies held Tocci back in Extended Spring Training before making his debut in the GCL.  While he exhibited little power Tocci drew rave reviews for his plate discipline and hitting ability.  His fielding was praised by scouts who saw him as an elite defender in center fielder going forward.  His stat line over 97ABs of .278/.330/.299 earned him the #6 prospect in the GCL.  In 2013 the Phillies challenged him with a full season assignment to Lakewood, where is youngest player in the league.

Hit:  Tocci has a good feel for contact and can spray the ball to all fields.  Currently his lack of strength prevent him from getting the ball far into the outfield.  The swing should be fine and when he puts on strength he should be able to hit for average to all fields. 20/60

Power: Power potential is the biggest question of Tocci’s game.  Right now he is as skinny as anyone in baseball.  The frame does not suggest a ton of muscle growth, but bat speed and feel for contact should give him at least gap power and probably more when he is fully developed.  20/30

Speed:  A plus plus runner when he was signed, Tocci’s speed has slipped a bit over the past year, some of which may be due to his overall workload.  He is a long strider that seems to glide.  He has not been good on the basepaths, but he has great baseball instincts so you hope it is a matter of reps before he gets better. 60

Arm:  Tocci right now has a plus arm with good accuracy.  It is a weapon from center field and it should be more consistent as he continues to put on weight and strength. 60

Glove: Tocci is impressive in the field and can seemingly glide to anything in the outfield.  He is still working on his routes, but has feel and drive to improve in the outfield.  That being said he is already a plus defender in center field and could be elite by the time he reaches the majors.  60/60+
