May seemed to have had a good start. Two home runs is a downer but after the shellacking he took last time out, it’s nice to see him bounce back.

Said it in the other thread, nice to see Domonic have a multi hit game.

    • Rick says:

Its funny because the other day someone posted a comment that Dom was only a few multi-hit games away from bumping his. 230 or so average into the respectable. 275 range. And here we are a few days, and multi-hit games later and he’s doing just that. Good for Dom, hope he keeps it up.

I only use my powers for good Rick lol. Nice to see him bounce back. Hopefully he can get some AB’s without any more interruptions, get into a groove.

I was just thinking about Dugan. He’s been semi-forgotten on this site, I guess because of the injuries and the fact that a lot of people didn’t love that draft pick from the start. His performance this year has been pretty good, especially if he can stick in the outfield eventually. Also, he needs to be at least decent against LHPs.

    • Rick says:

I think he’s been forgotten on this site because his perfornance has fluctuated between forgetable and downright bad. He’s not exactly done something this season (so far) to squash any of those perceptions.

      • Will says:

Really? I’m pretty happy with Dugan’s results so far. I don’t see much “bad” in his stat line, debut season notwithstanding. I just don’t see much of a sample size. So I think injuries have had a lot to do with his continued low-profile.

He’s showing a decent sense of the strikezone, and in-game power, at an age appropriate level. I’d easily put him in our top 15, and probably top 10, after the first two months of the season. If he could hit like he’s hitting in the OF, even better, though having not played a single game out there this season is not encouraging; could have something to do with his injury history.

        • Rick says:

If you’d honestly put him in the Top 15 I dont think we can even have a legitimate discussion about him. Thats so far over the top I dont know how to respond other than to assume you’re a family member.

3 seassons to reach Low A? Now longer able to even play a corner OF spot he has almost no value as a 1B. Quit switch hitting. Top 15? Seriously??

    • Anonymous VOR says:

Dugan is forgotten because he hasn’t done anything (not because people didn’t like the pick). It took him 3 seasons to get out of 2 levels of short-season ball. Part of his value was the ability to switch-hit and he gave that up. While he has shown an average bat, he hasn’t hit enough to be a legitimate 1B/corner OF. If he had the ability to play CF or 3B, his bat would be fine, but not at 1B. He also a slow baserunner. There is not a lot to get excited about so far.

      • Handzus says:

I was under the impression that the reason he’s been at 1st has more to do with the team having some very good outfielders than Dugan not being able to play there. I think his numbers are pretty solid for a LF. The reason it took him so long to get out of short season ball is because of injuries more than poor performance, as I said. He’s still younger than Harold Martinez and Eldemire and only a few months older than Altherr.

He’s putting up his best numbers across the board at the highest level he’s seen yet. He’s definitely put himself back on my prospect radar if he keeps it going for the rest of the year.

  3. Edwad says:

He’s played better. What else should he have done so far this season?

  4. Mike Honcho says:

Did anybody see Dom’s error in the LHV game?

    • Phillies_Aces35 says:

I’m curious as well. Given the fact that he’s playing CF for the first time regularly, I don’t want to overreact to an error, especially by an outfielder but if he’s making the same careless errors, it might be cause for alarm.

I really don’t think anyone can complain about his errors without first knowing exactly what he did.
