Close vote yesterday, with Antonio Bastardo edging out Quintin Berry, and Joe Bisenius gaining some support as well. Should be a close vote today.

01. Carrasco
02. Cardenas
03. Savery
04. Costanzo
05. Outman
06. Carpenter
07. Marson
08. Donald
09. Drabek
10. Happ
11. Harman
12. Golson
13. Jaramillo
14. E Garcia
15. Brown
16. Bastardo

And here’s a reminder for the eligibilty

For the purpose of this poll, consider “eligibility” to be less than 50 AB/25 games for a position player, and less than 25 IP/20 games as a pitcher.

So, here is where a few other guys stand

Mathieson: 37 IP. Not eligible
Zagurski: 25 G. Not eligible

well, jim callis agrees with our top 3:

Zac (Medford): Name the Phillies top three prospects…

Jim Callis: Carlos Carrasco, Adrian Cardenas, Joe Savery.

my vote for #17 is for d’arby myers

Galvis. Before this all started I might have been thinking Overholt here, but his Arizona performance might push him into the 20s. Not a fan of Berry as I think he was too old for his league. He needs a double-jump like Bourn did to be a top 20 prospect. Given that, my choice is between Myers and Galvis here. Both had injury issues. Myers unfortunately didn’t show much power before he was hurt, so I am going with Freddy Galvis. His stats were not much, but he flashed defensive tools and some speed. Hopefully he is healthy enough for Lakewood next year. If he hits more than .250 with defense at Lakewood at age 18 he would suddenly become a top 10 prospect.

    Bisenious

Now I’m torn because everyone at this point has their flaws. Myers is young but needs to show a little more on the stat sheet. Berry is good but I’m hoping a double jump is warranted in ’08. Bisenius had a really rough ’07.

I’m going to go with Drew Naylor. He has the physical attributes. Logged a good # of innings and his ’07 performance was a big step up from ’06. His K rate is on the rise and he had that marvelous stretch during this year. Drew Naylor

  6. Berger says:

Im going to go with Myers again

  7. Slinging Southpaw says:

    Quentin Berry

  8. dajafi says:

Bisenius, and if you argue that I’m making this pick in part because he’s had four good innings in Arizona, I have to admit there’s probably something to that…

  9. Eric says:

    Berry

  10. allentown says:

    Freddy Galvis, Myers next.

    Slayden

  12. xfactor says:

    Quintin Berry.

Since when has Pat Gillick been afraid to “double-jump” a guy? Kendrick. Zagurski. Mathieson. Bourn. Hamels. Its great when it works. Energizes the entire system. High risk, high reward.

Berry’s age (22) doesn’t bother me one bit. ETA 2009.

  13. PhillyFriar says:

    Joe Bisenius

  14. Dave Kingman says:

  15. Jeff O says:

I’m going Bisenius today. He’s doing well in the fall league, which is helping to negate his struggles at Ottawa

  16. Michael Bourn says:

    D’Arby Myers.

  17. Cory says:

    Myers

  25. taco pal says:

Slim pickins. I’ll go with Berry.

  26. Murray says:

    D’arby Myers

  27. I actually don’t think it’s “slim pickins” at all, I just think people are forgetting about certain guys.

  28. Bill says:

    bisenius

  29. JGot says:

    Berry

  30. Alex says:

From what I’ve seen, Berry can hit, and RUN. Myers slaps and RUNS. No brainer.

    Quinton Berry

  31. Whatever says:

    Bisenius.

  32. Dave Kingman says:

I have a question, why should we not include Mathieson? He was not an established major leaguer and in effect since the tj surgery he is starting over.

  37. dcwildcat53 says:

i’ll say bisenius here, but a few guys that will be coming up should include Myers, Berry, Julian Sampson, Jiwan James, naylor, mach, galvis maybe even monasterios

  38. Darinkit says:

    Bisenius

  39. smokey says:

Joe Bsienius closest to majors in a position of need.

  40. msb says:

    Berry

  41. Andy says:

    Myers

  42. Drew Naylor. C’mon, I think Quintin Berry is probably slightly better but Naylor has the build and performed great at Williamsport. He has a good ceiling, though I guess he needs a full season?

  43. Big Rob says:

    Joe Bisenius

  44. I have a question, why should we not include Mathieson? He was not an established major leaguer and in effect since the tj surgery he is starting over.

This is my own personal judgment call. Some sites use different criteria. Mathieson is still an eligible “rookie”, but when I think about prospects, I generally think about guys with just a few innings/appearances or AB’s. Mathieson has 37 innings pitched at the major league level. When I crank out my Top 30 for the Phillies and then top 30 for every other team, and a Top 200 overall prospect list, I planned to use the same criteria for every team.

50 AB/25 games for a position player, and less than 25 IP/20 games as a pitcher.

That’s what I went with. I still think Mathieson has a bright future, but I’m not including him, or anyone else above the threshold I stated above, that’s just my personal preference.

    too soon?

  50. Steve Carrol says:

    Berry

  51. the fish says:

ah no, the Drew Nayor supporters have left? I’d take him in a trade for either Berry or Myers. Too bad fans around here seem to react with such novelty to an older college player that actually produces when expected, and a highschool kid iwth a ton of upside who has shown little of the upside in real games so far.

  52. BringBackSchill says:

A lot of good arguements for Berry on here but I’m going to go with D’Arby Myers, a guy who has a chance to be a right-handed Griffey Jr.

  53. Tomas Perez says:

    Joe Bisenius

  54. squark says:

    Joe Bisenius!

  55. Billy Mac says:
