After two starts Dan Brauer and Andrew Carpenter both look like guys to look out for in Clearwater. Both were 2006 draft picks out of college with solid short seasons, and have both come out strong this year.

I started doing a writeup on Zagurski, then stopped, for two reasons.

1. He was 23, and pitching in Low A ball.

2. 3.51 BB/9. That might not seem THAT bad, but for a 23 year old pitching at Low A, I'd like to see a touch better. He should get double jumped to Reading, then we'll find out if he's going to be a legit reliever.

Another excellent post... PP/FTN you are an excellent writer and I very much enjoy your work. I really appreciate the time and effort you are putting into this site (which by the way is rapidly becoming the best source of Phillies' minor league info on this here interweb).

I will certainly be keeping an eye on the five guys you mentioned. Here is my favorite "diamond in the rough" so to speak:

Mike Zagurski, 6'0" 225 lbs, Age: 24, Throws: Left

2006 Stats: 56.1 IP, K/9: 12, 0 HRs, 3.51 ERA, 1.21 WHIP
